We received 97 U.S. grantees from the 2022 cohort in Colombia.

The Commission for Educational Exchange between the United States of America and Colombia – Fulbright Colombia, with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Colombia, the Ministry of Education (MEN) and ICETEX, welcomes the 2022 cohort of U.S. grantees to Colombia.

Fulbright Colombia welcomes 58 U.S. grantees, who will support English teaching in Colombian higher education institutions as part of the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program. These grantees will work in 21 departments in all regions of Colombia, such as: Santander, Boyacá, Córdoba, Antioquia, Atlántico, Bolívar, Valle del Cauca, Risaralda and Huila.

Another 39 U.S. grantees will soon be arriving in Colombia, including14 Fulbright U.S. Scholars, 17 Fulbright U.S. Specialist Scholars and 8 Fulbright U.S. Student Researchers. These new grantees will carry out research projects at universities and research centers in Colombia for a period of six to ten months.

Of the 94 grantees in this cohort, 69% are women and 31% are men, 18% of whom self-identify as part of an ethnic group (african-american or indigenous). Of a total of 25 institutions that will receive support from our Fulbright Programs, 41% of grantees will be placed in public universities,. ,

Among the participating institutions are the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Universidad Industrial de Santander, Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia and Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina, among others.

The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Award is aimed at tertiary education institutions in Colombia interested in receiving the support of one or more young native English speakers from the United States to support their English teaching needs for a period of 10 months. This program seeks to strengthen English as a second language and is aligned with the policies of the MEN’s National Bilingualism Plan.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award seeks to strengthen relations between U.S. academics and their counterparts in Colombia by connecting U.S. professors, academics and experts with Colombian institutions for a research stay of up to 3 months.

Fulbright U.S. Specialist Award connects Colombian institutions with U.S. experts in all areas of knowledge, who for 42 days will support the strengthening of the host institution’s processes, generating greater capacity in the fulfillment of its objectives.

Fulbright U.S. Student Researcher Award promotes academic mobility and the integration of professionals, young researchers, artists and graduate students, while laying the groundwork for greater academic collaboration and fostering interdisciplinary work/research that addresses different needs and challenges in Colombia and the United States of America.
